When I was a medical student I remember being afraid of my renal block. But an amazing nephrologist made it easy to understand and fun. 20 years later I still have the nephron poster I made during that block and I keep it as a reminder of that moment when nephrology went from being my greatest fear to being my life long passion.
I often hear from students, residents, and other physicians how intimidated they are by nephrology. My goal is to pay it forward and help erase that fear. And perhaps inspire a budding nephrologist to pursue their dreams along the way.
